PSHE and RSE

At Stapleford Abbotts Primary Academy, we believe that Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) are the foundation of a child’s learning. It helps give children the skills and understanding they need to be morally good, healthy and independent citizens.

In addition, we provide our children with the opportunity to learn about their rights and understand how their actions affect others by offering experience of diversity within changing society.  PSHE and RSE is also integrated throughout our whole curriculum, particularly our bespoke Behaviour Curriculum and carefully planned Personal Development offer. Our children are encouraged to develop their self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

PSHE

PSHE is a term used to combine the areas of Personal, Social, Health and Ecomonic education, while RSE is about the emotional, social and cultural development of pupils, and involves learning about relationships, sexual health, healthy lifestyles, diversity and personal identity.   At Stapleford Abbotts, we enable children to leave school with the skills needed to explore the world and make positive relationships with others.

Personal and health education is based fundamentally on giving children the skills and knowledge to be physically and mentally healthy. In addition it should provide the information required to let children make informed choices so they can keep themselves safe both in the real world and online.
